Did You Know?
Every year in Marin County over 100 children, newborns to teens, are impacted by trauma associated with abuse and neglect and placed in foster care.
Due to a shortage of foster homes in Marin, about ¼ of these children (mostly teens) have to be placed out of county, which adds loss of friends and familiarity to their trauma.
Yet the face of foster care in Marin remains shadowed.
Please help raise awareness and crucial funds to support the children in our community.
Our event is designed as a tangible way to get children of all ages
involved in the act of philanthropy while building community and supporting our local foster youth.
The Marin Foster Care Association focuses on turning a period of profound crisis in a child's life into a time of security, healing and opportunity. Our mission of providing safe, consistent, quality care for every Marin child in foster care is sustained and advanced through our four main programs:
The Community Resource Center fills the day-to-day material needs of Marin's foster children, free of charge
Events, outings and support forums provide a sense of community and normalcy for foster families
Advocacy with other Marin County agencies serving children in the dependency system promotes best practices
Because each child is marked by a unique history of abuse and neglect, our Opportunity Project provides direct cash awards that support priority services tailored to the most urgent, individual needs of Marin's foster children
