Every year in Marin County over 100 children have open cases in the dependency system and dozens of families are impacted by trauma associated with abuse and neglect. Yet the face of foster care in Marin remains shadowedBlues and Brews is a fun and informative evening designed to shed light on this significant social issue while raising much needed funds to continue our mission.

Doing Things Differently During Shelter-in-Place

During these difficult and uncertain times, the Marin Foster Care Association (MFCA) is redefining its commitment to support safe and consistent care for foster children and nourish the amazing adults caring for them. With its Community Resource Center closed, and facing new and greater needs, MFCA is:

* Checking in with our caregivers and asking, "How can we help?"
* Providing SchoolReady Kits for Marin’s kids in foster care and legal guardianship.  Each kit includes materials that promote learning in all areas of education. For kids in TK to 12th grade.
* Providing educational support to support virtual learning (i.e. tutors, one on one help, etc.)
* Distributing grocery gift cards and takeout meals to foster families and our foster youth living independently
* Providing cash support to offset the living expenses of our aged-out youth who have lost their jobs
* Ordering and delivering diapers and safety equipment to families fostering little ones
* Ordering and delivering laptops, craft and activity toys to foster youth
* Connecting with foster youth and foster families via Zoom for trainings, puppet shows, and scavenger hunts
